Humans, by divine design, were built for the great outdoors—nature’s VIP guests, if you will. We’ve evolved to vibe with the natural world, soaking up nourishment for the mind, body, and soul. Let’s face it: we’re solar-powered! Our mental and physical well-being depends on a healthy dose of sunshine and Mother Nature. Yoga knew it all along—the sun is the ultimate symbol of life, energy, and vitality. Enter the Sun Salutation (Surya Namaskar), a little salute to that golden orb in the sky that keeps us all glowing. But in the chaos of modern life, we’ve drifted away from this sacred connection.
Cue MoShams, our little sanctuary designed to rekindle that love affair with nature. Think of it as a throwback to the good ol’ days when holidays were slow, sun-soaked, and full of lazy afternoons flipping through vintage magazines in sleepy neighborhoods. Here, luxury is understated, simplicity is key, and life moves at a pace so relaxed it’s practically horizontal. It’s where you swap out the tourist traps for hidden gems, and even familiar spots feel like brand-new discoveries.
MoShams is more than just a place to stay—it’s a portal to slow living, offering personalized service that feels more like hanging out with a local friend than checking into a hotel. Every room boasts floor-to-ceiling windows with jaw-dropping views of valleys and mountains, and outdoor nooks that are practically begging you to sit down, chill out, and soak it all in.
Getting here is a breeze. Just hop on a 40-minute flight from Delhi to Dehradun, nestled in the foothills of the Shivalik range. From there, it’s a scenic another 40 minute drive through lush forests, by passing Rishikesh, and along a picture-perfect valley road that leads straight to MoShams.
Inside, your room is your private retreat, with glass walls that bring nature right to your doorstep. En-suite bathrooms, 5G connectivity, WiFi, and a TV in the living room ensure you’re never too far from the modern world—unless, of course, you want to be. And the best part? You don’t lift a finger. Our professional yet local team takes care of everything, so you can focus on the art of doing absolutely nothing. Just let us know your preferences in advance, and arrive with nothing on your mind but chilling. We can’t wait to welcome you to MoShams for a #NetworkWithNature experience!
While designing and planning the premises, the preservation of land, flora& fauna are ensured with naturally retained area (topography/ vegetation). Wherever possible conserving the site contour, ramps are created in order to enable facilities for a universal design. The project has used natural and local materials like natural stones for wall cladding and pathways.
For natural air ventilation and daylight, floor to ceiling windows enable the same. Outdoor views is almost 100% from the rooms and the balconies. Greenpro certified materials are used wherever possible. The total tree cover of the premises is ~25% with most of the trees being the native/ endemic species including plants that provides for organic seasonal vegetables and herbs. All indoor spaces have plants as well. Of the 30 KW connected electricity load 50% is sourced from solar energy. Sewage treatment plant for waste water treatment is commissioned. Management for wet and dry waste is planned alongwith vermicomposting for organic waste. Green Procurement and promoting local economy through employment purchase of local goods is followed. The premises adopt ecofriendly house keeping practices during maintenance by using bio-degradable/ eco-friendly chemicals, to address health, hygiene and well-being of building occupant & maintenance staff. Sharmila and Mohit are warm hosts and made our Anniversary even more special. Chef Narendra's mouth watering dishes are an added attraction. The room Aksa combines luxury with an out of the world view. I also respect Moshams attention to sustainability in running the homestead. Will keep coming back for my dose of peace tranquility and happiness every few months.Posted on vinod balajiTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Moshams: "Not a Homestay, but a Friend's Home" My friends and I—a group of four who have known each other our whole lives—landed at Moshams and were immediately greeted by Mohit and Sharmila at the gate. The warm reception set the tone for the entire stay. Our check-in was seamless, a fascinating display of teamwork. While Mohit efficiently handled our luggage, Sharmila gave us a tour of the property, assisted by the quiet, helpful, and ever-smiling Ambika. If you are seeking serene mountain quietude and uninterrupted peace overlooking the stunning Dehradun valley, Moshams is simply the perfect retreat. The small, dedicated team—including Chef Narender—handled every request we threw at them with surprising pleasantness and impressive quality. Sharmila even took proactive care of our local travel needs, providing excellent recommendations for places to visit and things to do around Dehradun. A special mention must go to Chef Narender: I still maintain that the breads he serves are the best I have ever had. The food alone is reason enough to forget any diet plan! We left Moshams with one overwhelming impression: Mohit and Sharmila are not just hosts; they feel like friends, one of us, we have known all our lives. Between the angelic hospitality, the top-quality accommodation, the location close to heaven, and the unforgettable cuisine, there are more than enough reasons to go back. Mohit & Sharmila, thank you for a truly wonderful time. — Joseph, Sooraj, Mini & VinodPosted on Rohit GuptaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Visited this homestay with family (2 adults and 2 kids) for 3 nights and 2 days in beginning of November and absolutely loved the whole experience. We landed from New York to Delhi and took a short flight from there to Dehradun- from there 45 to 60 minutes ride to the homestay (kids were thrilled by the road to the property due to recent landslides but it’s functional). We loved the warmth of the hosts who made us comfortable after a tiring long travel. This place has everything which you expect from a “LUXURY” “HOMESTAY”. Very welcoming hosts who did everything to make our trip cozy and fun filled. They are hoteliers with a lot of experience at big chain hotels and that clearly shows in the facility and hospitality. The property is beautiful, well built and kept, well lit and clean. It has a decent sized pool enough for 2-3 families to enjoy. The rooms and all common areas were spacious, very clean and of high standard. Room service is not available, which we knew as it is a homestay but the hosts and staff made things as pleasurable as possible for us. The views from the room as well as from the common areas in the resort were stunning- the sunrise and sunset, we enjoyed great air quality as well as the warm sun and chilly morning/evenings. Also the hosts were gracious to greet us with bonfire and tasty tandoori appetizers. The quality of food and drinks was tremendous and deserves mentioning. We were able to ask for any cuisine on demand; we chose Indo-Chinese, Rajasthani, American and Italian. There were games and books in a small library in the big and beautiful restaurant which the kids actually enjoyed a lot. Kids also had a lot of fun which included watching birds and monkeys in mornings, exploring nature on a nearby trek and the trip to a nearby Devi mandir. Overall a five star experience which we want to repeat many times on our future visits to India.Posted on Capt RaveeTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. MoShams – A Retreat to Reckon With: Truly God’s Own Home With the grace of the Almighty, I write this review for the benefit of all who are seeking a meaningful and rejuvenating break. If you are looking for a peaceful escape in the mountains without venturing too far inside the hills, MoShams is the place for you. Located just 35–40 minutes from Rishikesh and almost the same distance from Dehradun Airport, it sits beautifully tucked within lush green forest surroundings. I will try to be brief, but if I am not, I encourage you to read through—this review is for you and you will surely benefit. Over the past year, my Ardhangini and I have been visiting this region frequently. Apart from Ananda and The Westin—both ideal only for those willing to splurge—there are very few properties that truly offer quality. While some may be nicely located, their service and standards often fall short. This is where MoShams stands apart. Unlike other properties where the staff looks after you, here you are personally cared for by the owners themselves—Sharmila and Mohit. Both are seasoned hoteliers with decades of experience working with high-end luxury brands. It was remarkable to see Sharmila personally serving guests despite having a full team, and Mohit attending to everyone with genuine warmth and professionalism. With around 20 years of top-level hospitality experience each, their presence elevates the entire stay. For me, this level of personal attention was truly a treat. MoShams can best be described as a 5-star homestay or boutique BnB. What Most Guests Seek — and How MoShams Delivers 1. A break from the hustle and bustle without deep mountain travel – MoShams rating: ★★★★★ 2. A haven for those on a spiritual path – Ideal for meditation and sadhana. 3. A peaceful environment to calm the mind – This place offers serenity in abundance. 4. A nurturing space for the body – From fresh air to lush surroundings, MoShams offers it all. In essence, MoShams is a holistic retreat catering to the spiritual, emotional/mental, and physical dimensions. The Intent That Makes All the Difference It is the intention of the promoters that truly brings this property to life. Sharmila and Mohit have poured their life’s savings, time, and heart—over three dedicated years—into creating a home, not just a hotel. With only five luxurious rooms by design, they intend to personally care for each guest as their own family. In a world rushing after profit, this thoughtful approach is refreshing and admirable. Their second noble intention is local empowerment. They have created jobs for many locals, provided high-quality hospitality training to them, and supported local transport and small businesses. This is development with a heart. They are also conscious about maintaining their surroundings—clean, green, and tranquil. What You Can Expect at MoShams • Warm, well-trained, and courteous staff • Excellent food crafted by internationally trained chef, Narender Negi • High-speed Wi-Fi (100 Mbps) • Hot and cold ACs • Private plunge pools inside rooms + a common pool • A cosy library • Quality TVs with OTT access • Pristine mountain air • Bird watching opportunities • Beautiful star-gazing nights • Jungle hikes to nearby villages Staying at MoShams is not just a vacation—it is a contribution to a wonderful couple and a meaningful initiative. I wholeheartedly recommend this property to anyone looking to enjoy a 5-star, home-like experience in the lap of nature. We wish Sharmila, Mohit, and the entire MoShams team good health, peace, and a blissful life. May God reside in their hearts. The property is beautifully located between the mountains of Narendra Nagar offering truly breathtaking views. We travelled by car, and the drive was comfortable and scenic, making the arrival even more special. Our room was spacious, clean, and beautifully maintained, with a stunning mountain view right from the balcony. Waking up to that scenery was one of the highlights of our stay. The stay was cozy and relaxing. A big shoutout to Chef Narender, the food was absolutely delicious you must try their Garhwali Thali, it’s a highlight! We also loved their in-house brownie with ice cream, a must-try dessert. Sharmila was extremely helpful and welcoming throughout our stay. She went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Overall, a wonderful stay, highly recommended!Posted on Melody SchröerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had the best experience at MoShams!! This place is a true gem and hard to come across in the region. I was researching places to stay a lot with the aim to find something with authenticity, charm, an experience in nature, with good food and build and maintained by people with the right intentions. Moshams, Mohit & Sharmila have created exactly that! Both are so caring and totally create the perfect experience! We celebrated Diwali with them and were invited to their families ceremony, which was very special. The chef cooks wonderful food and is talented in multiple cuisines, he personalised our meals and even made us an anniversary cake. Prem was our driver and to be honest, he was one of the best people we have met on our entire trip!! We can’t recommend MoShams enough, specially if you would like to experience Rishikesh in a more quiet and peaceful way.
